 Dermatology is a branch of medicine that deals with diseases related to skin. It deals with both the medical and surgical aspects of the skin diseases. It also deals with cosmetic problems of hair, nails and scalp. There are many sub specialties in dermatology. They are cosmetic dermatology, dermatopathology, pediatric dermatology, Mohs surgery and immunodermatology.
Each of these specializations requires additional qualification apart from the normal medicine degree. Cosmetic dermatology deals with the liposuction, face lifts, blepharoplasty and laser surgery. Dermatopathology is the study that deals with pathology of the skin. Pediatric dermatology deals with the study of skin diseases in children. Mohs surgery is a specialized study that deals with the excision of skin cancer using tissue sparing technique.

A dermatologist is one who treats patients suffering from skin diseases. A dermatologist is expert in treating diseases related to hair, skin and nails. He treats diseases like psoriasis, acne, warts, skin cancer, itching, allergic rashes and eczema. In the recent, dermatologist have been trained in treating skin cancer. In order to become a dermatologist, one has to complete minimum of three years of undergraduate studies and get a certified degree from the university. The duration of the undergraduate course is about four years. Students spent the first two years in laboratories and classrooms while the next two years is spent in clinics and hospitals.

Most of the medical students choose this field because of the high salary paid to the professionals who are in this business. The salary of a dermatologist starts from $200,000 to $2 million. The pay depends on many factors like the location, specialty, experience and the organization. The salary of a dermatologist may differ from one country to the other depending on the demand of the physician in the location. The specialization one is proficient contributes a lot to the salary of the physician. Usually the private organization will offer a better pay scale than the public organization so most of the dermatologist prefers private organization.
